If you have found yourself visiting this website, and reading about me, you are likely considering counseling. No matter who you end up seeing, it’s probably a good idea to find out a bit about the therapists you are considering so that you can find the one likely to be the best fit for you. While there are many different kinds of therapeutic techniques available, you may have heard that the most important thing for therapy to be most effective, is a good relationship between therapist and client. One where the client feels understood, and meetings are held in an environment that is safe and confidential, maybe even cozy!
I returned to college after all of my children were in school, and discovered that my passion was sitting with people as they told their stories, helping them find the road to feeling better, and walking with them on this path to healing. I utilize all of the personal and professional experiences of my life, to help inform my strategies for helping clients. I come from a holistic perspective, believing that it’s important to consider the WHOLE person: mind, body and spirit when working toward a place of healing. The research supports this perspective, and it opens up so many avenues for effectively addressing your struggles: eating from the rainbow, combining breath and movement, taking time to increase your awareness, as well as common strategies such as problem-solving issues together or learning ways to communicate that can help you work through relationship challenges.
Each of us will have situations in our life that we will be unable to work through. My background has provided me experience in the areas of anxiety and depression, trauma, grief, and relationship concerns. I work regularly with adolescents, young adults, and older adults. I have a special interest in working with those who are struggling with some life change or transition in their lives. Examples could be moving to the next level of education, entering adulthood, difficulties with relationships, job changes/challenges, chronic health problems, either yourself, or family member, and loss of all kinds. I have experience working with those who feel they don’t “fit in” for one reason or another, those who struggle to feel good about themselves.
